Guest guest
Jean asked, " One more question,,,,how many are they allowing to stay at the motel,,,Is it quite limited as to the rooms made available,,,,I know absolutely nothing about Indpls, and know where nothiing is located. " Jean, I am sending this to the board because others may have this question, too. Actually, I am not sure if I understand the basis of your question? Is it, are there enough rooms at Methodist Towers for everyone wanting a room? And, if there are not enough for everyone, where in proximity is the other option, being Lee's Inn? I'll operate on that being the question. :-) First, are there enough rooms at Methodist Towers? No there are probably not enough rooms for everybody. If you are concerned about finances, and you know you are coming, make a reservation tonight. **See procedure below. Where are the others going to be? Several people have already reserved rooms at University Place Hotel. Most of these peopel have worked out room share situations with other members months ago. One or two may have already reerved a room at Lee's Inn. Some are staying with friends or famoily who happen to live in Indy. SOME ARE STILL LOOKING FOR A ROOM SHARE SITUATION. What if I wait too long, and they fill up? There are dozens of rooms available at University Place and probably plenty at Lee's Inn, most likely available the day of the Symposium---I wouldn't recommend that, though. the next week is the Brickyard 400, at the Motor Speedway, and people will already be flooding into town. It is the 2nd biggest event in Indy, next to the Indy 500 race. People book years in advance for this week and weekend. (Poor planning on my part, but then there is always something one way or another) What if I didn't drive, how am I going to get to and from the hotel? I drove, but I don't know Indy at all? For those at Methodist Towers, keep your car in the parking garage. The people mover is right outside the hotel which will take you to the door of the conference room (almost). The people mover is free. For those at Lee's Inn, I pass by there on my way to conference center. Be ready and I'll swing by and you can follow me from Lee's Inn to the Symposium in the morning, and reverse back there at the end of the day. We will all park at Methodist Hospital and take the people mover to where the meeting is. More than likely it will take us to the doorstep of the buidling. For those at University Place, I apologise for the change in plans, which will put a kink into what would have been an ideal situation. But, I am sure you agree, it is important to do what ever we can to accomadate everyone at the Symposium. Moving locations, will, however, now involve some walking. I can't gaurantee how far or short that is. I do understand that most of us can hardly walk, so we will make an effort to pick up people at University Place in the morning and take them back at the end of the day. It may be as close as across the street at IU Hospital, I just do not know. I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about this, because we can shuttle you around. (We definitley will not be walking to the lunch area like we did last year!) ***Regarding making reservations at Methodist Towers, just call and tell t hem you need a room for Wednesday & Thursday night (if you are driving in the day before, since it would be impossible to get here by 8:00am otherwise) (Most people are leaving Friday after the meeting.) The supervisor said he would provide authorizations for people there for the Symposium. What he offered me to do was to go ahead and book 4 or 5 rooms to hold them for Symposium participants. I can't do that, for obvious financial reasons. They don't pull off your credit card until you check out, so it would probably not cost me anything to do that. However, if I reserve rooms that end up not being used, then I would have to pay for those rooms. That is why I need you to make your own reservations. In addition to the fact that I don't have a " Hotel Accomadations Committee " , other than me, myself & I. If you have any more questions or are still a little hazy, let me know, don't hesistate. I want everyone to feel comfortable with their plans. Karyn E. , RN, Exec. Director, PAI *http://www.pancassociation.org
