I am so glad that you found this group! I know that before I found this

website and was trying to get a diagnosis, I felt like I was the only one on

earth

with this disease. I thank God daily for the good people in this forum. I

do not suffer from any of your ailments (other then the chronic pancreatitis)

so I cannot be of any help there. Your post struck me when I read that you

aren't on anything for pain control and I can't believe this guy is giving you

Valium!! You NEED to find a new doctor ASAP. If he wants to give you something

for depression I can suggest Elavil. It not only helps with the depression

but it is also used as form of pain control. I know if a couple other members

that use it and seems to be affective. Also you should be on pancreatic

enzymes that you take with meals. Almost everyone, if not everyone, here takes

those. As far as diet goes you should be on a very low fat one. Many people

try

and stay under 20 grams/day. It isn't much and takes some getting used to.

How is your pain daily? I am one of the lucky ones that my daily pain is mild

to moderate (the Elavil I think really helps) and have flare ups which

require additional pain meds (Vicoden is what I currently use) about once every

week

or two. Only a year ago I was using pain meds maybe once a month, usually

once every two months. This disease is very very unpredictable. It is hard to

find knowledgeable doctors so please don't get discouraged. Where do you

live? Someone may live near you and be able to recommend a good GI for you to

see. Please feel free to post any questions you may have. The people here are

great and have had lots of experience dealing with cp. I hope you are feeling

well.
