Eilish's teacher said that Eilish isn't eating her lunch. Apparently

she drinks and then goes of to play. So she asked if it would be all

right if she was harder on her about her food. She wont let her out to

play until her lunch is eaten. I agreed. I think Eilish would eat her

lunch if she thought she couldn't go out to play. This food stuff is

driving me crazy, She just is to busy to eat. She is on the go from

morning to night and doesn't want to sit still to eat. I have told her

about the gastro. button, which I really really don't want and I don't

think she is bad enough for. But it doesn't work with her. She has

weighed 19.1kg for about 6 months or more. She drinks very fattening

milk shakes, but she obviously burns off alot of her calories. So now I

am giving her a fattening one before bed, so she is asleep. I think I

might see the dietitician, whom we haven't seen since she was 2yrs.

Thanks for letting me moan.

I am here with you mate! I have a system going now where I let Sian have

1/2 what she should have for lunch at the start of lunchtime, and the other

half gets eaten at her desk after 2.30pm. Means she still gets all the food

in, but also gets to play.

And yeah, even the threat of hospital admission, surgery and other horrible

things just doesn't make that girl eat right!

Much love,

How old is Eilish? I remember you lots from back when I was active on both

lists before, but can't remember anymore how old she is. My instinct is

telling me she's a bit younger than Cody--around 5 or 6. Many of us " new "

ones have no idea! LOL

And yes, I understand TOTALLY about the food thing! Cody never wants to

take time to eat either, but it's worse now after his last illness. He

didn't eat while sick, and now getting him to eat more than a couple bites

is a real chore!! His teacher and lunch aide get on his case to eat more,

too.

Right now he's home for a little extra before school--he looks a bit

dehydrated--dark circles under his eyes, glazed a bit, and a low-grade

fever. So, I'm trying to pump water in him, and he's ticked at me because I

won't let him play Playstation 2! LOL So he's saying " Fine, I won't drink

it then! " Oh, well!

If Cody may be dehydrated, why not offer Gatorade or other sport drink

instead of water. It would offer a few calories as well as electrolytes that

may be needed when one is dehydrated.

I don't know Cody but maybe it would seem like more of a 'treat' than water.

I always worry when calories are needed that plain water is filling my child

up without the calories.

I hope he is soon feeling much better.

He did drink the Gatorade, too, although he's not a big fan of it. I always

have an 8-pack of bottles of that sitting around, especially in the summer.

Getting him to drink water, though, is a real chore--heck, now that I look

at it, getting him to drink anything gets to be a chore!! LOL I was able

to get him to also drink an Ensure Plus while sitting there, and he took one

to school, too. His teacher has him sit with a snack and a drink on his

desk all the time--but he's getting sick of the " finger snacks " I have for

him, so I gotta think up some new ones. One she suggested is making a

homemade granola/trail mix, so I need to find some good hi-cal recipes for

that, and also cutting up protein bars into bite-size snackable pieces.

My daughter was the same, too busy to eat and so active that what she

did eat she burned off. We did decide on the g-tube and by we I mean

both my daughter and I. Now she gets fed through the tube at night

and eats what she wants during the day. I'm finding that she is

eating more than she did before. She had the surgery in september and

has gained a whopping 14 pounds. Her lung function has also improved

significantly.

MEGAN,

IT IS SO FRUSTRATING. GEE YOU'D DON'T NEED TO BRIBE ME TO EAT!!!!

SHE ATE HER RECESS TODAY AND HAS HAD TWO NUTELLA SANDWICHES AND A

MILKSHAKE FOR LUNCH. SHE IS ALSO LIKE HER DAD, BURNS ALOT OF CALORIES

AS SHE IS SO ACTIVE. I HAVE MADE AN APPT. FOR HER TO SEE THE

DIETITICIAN ON MONDAY.
