Guest guest
> Hello, my name is Ralph and I am from NH and looking for a good DR. I have no idea what EUS Assisted Nerve Block DR is.? Also another thing, is chronic pancreatitis heredity? Ralph Dear Ralph, Unfortunately I don't know of any specialists in your area. One thing you might do is call the NH medical board and ask for a referral to a gastroenterolgist, then when you get a list of names, call these physicians and ask if any of them specialize in pancreatic problems. We do have some members in the group that had used physicians in Mass., but they haven't listed their names on our doctor's database, unfortunately. Maybe one of our Mass. or Maine members could help out here??? An EUS assisted nerve block is where they use an endoscopy procedure to locate the nerves in the spinal column to inject alcohol into the nerves to block the pancreas pain. This procedure is supposed to be very effective and long lasting, but it is highly specialized and there are only a handful of doctor's in the country that do it. There are other types of nerve blocks that are done with x-rays used to located the nerves which are not always that successful. Yes, chronic pancreatitis can be heriditary? Do you have someone else in your bloodline that has chronic pancreatitis? If you can tell us a little more about yourself, perhaps we can help you with other questions. Guest guest
Hello, My name is Ralph and I am 34 years old and over weight. I am having a BIG PROBLEM.!! I am having a hard time with my DR to listen to me and understand the pain I am going threw and I am having a big concern about my pain that it is due to my stomach or my Pancreases. I am having LOTS of pain on my right side around and near my liver, gallbladder, pancreases. They have done a Ultrasound and on the Ultrasound, they said that my liver was enlarged but on the CT it shows my liver Normal. They did the Ultrasound to look at my gallbladder and stones. They found nothing. They did blood work on my liver and kidneys and they all came back normal. They also did a hepatitis test, just because they said, I think it was cause of the ultrasound but the CT said different and so didn't the liver function test was all normal. I am not having no luck on them doing any other blood work or maybe doing a endoscopy and I really think I need it. I have been suffering for a month now and it is getting worse. I have lots of pain and tightness in the middle of my abdomen and then around my liver, gallbladder, pancreases, and having pain go right around my side into my back and around my kidneys, (flank pain) and I will get spasms in my back. I belch allot and I do have a greasy looking stool and just not right on the smell, not to say I smell it much but it is different, I think. I have some difficulty swallowing and pass gas allot. I am looking for help and some advice. I am so scared and don't want to wait until it becomes a 911 matter. but I am hurting so bad and need help and anytime I go to the ER, I get crap from them and for me to follow up with my PCP, they tell me and then get no where with that. I was not sure if there is anything maybe you could do to help me out and suggest anything or something. Please get back to me. I don't have a blood line of chronic pancreatitis , but had a grandmother with stomach cancer, but she was 71 and my grandfather was 86 with prostrate cancer. That is it for cancer that I am totally unaware of in my family, from my mothers side and father side and both cancer people was from my dad's side.. Thanks so very much, Ralph Re: LOOKING FOR ADVICE AND INFORMATION AND A GOOD DR > Hello, my name is Ralph and I am from NH and looking for a good DR. Guest guest
Also they did do some blood work and all my liver functions was normal, and my kidney test they did was normal and they did do a CBC and that was Normal, but did have a elevated white count of 10.9 and it is not suppose to be over 10 but I have had a elevated white count for the past 3 years or so I would say. My red count and that all was normal and my LIPA WAS 21 and my Amy was 43. Does this help out any ? Thanks and hugs, Ralph Re: LOOKING FOR ADVICE AND INFORMATION AND A GOOD DR > Hello, my name is Ralph and I am from NH and looking for a good DR. I have no idea what EUS Assisted Nerve Block DR is.? Guest guest
Ralph, it sounds like you may need to get another doctor completely, if your current doctor is doing nothing to stop the pain or even find out what is causing the pain. Have you looked into finding a new PCP who is willing to refer you to a pancreas specialist. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... I am not getting no where and if I find a new PCP , it is like starting over and got to suffer more and more. I can't win I guess. Guest guest
Ralph, unfortunately, sometimes it is necessary to find a new doctor when the current one is refusing to do anything about your pain. I had this problem and finally had to fire the doctor and look for another one. The next doctor I got was really good and helped me a great deal in dealing with CP. I know it's scary to think about having to go through all of this again, but, considering how your doctor isn't helping you now, what have you got to lose? This is the best advise I can give you. There is now way any of us can MAKE your current doctor change his mind. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Guest guest
Ralph, Kimber's advice for you to find a new doctor really is constructive advice. She nailed on the head by saying if this one isn't doing anything for you to treat your pain, you really have no choice but to find another who is more compassionate and willing to dig deeper into finding out what's causing it. I've had to fire a GI, too, and find another one. And yes, the new one made me go through all the tests, and it was like starting out all over again. By that time I had a burned out pancreas, new pseudocysts, insulin dependent brittle diabetes and some other medical problems, plus tons of x-rays, ultrasounds, lab reports and ct-scans evidencing all of this, yet he still wanted all the tests done over. It was okay with me though, because it proved to me that he was ready for some hands on, attentive care, and that's truly what I've gotten from him. You owe it to yourself to find another doctor for a second opinion and a chance for better treatment. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Guest guest
Ralph, I did a search on the internet, and don't know how far you are from this hospital, but you might be able to contact them and get the name of a GI nearer to you. Some hospitals (major Medical Centers) allow patients to refer themselves, that is something you could ask. http://www.nashuamedicalgroup.org/imstaff.html One of them is listed as a Gastroenterologist, the others are internal medicine doctors. I would be contacting the hospital and asking to be put through to the Gastroenterology Department and starting from there. Good Luck,
