You said, " I did just see my doctor today and he gave me a letter to take to the ER the next time I have to go, stating that I'm not a substance abuser and that I truly have a diagnosable condition! " I did the same thing. I have a letter stating that I have Chronic Pancreatitis, a catastrophic, progressive, incureable disease and may often need to go to the Emergency Room for pain management intervention. In addition she states that due to the advanced statge of the disease, my serum enzyme levels no longer elevate. I didn't think about getting this until she was writing a letter of medical necessity for my disability case. Karyn E. , RN Exec.
