Hi to all,

I have a question. I think I just experienced my first migraine. What a

horribly scary thing. I started with blurred vision, not being able to

read, not being able to write my name, and not being able to say the words

that I wanted to say. Then I had numbness in my hand and in my tongue.

After that subsided, I had an extreme headache.

Do these symptoms sound typical for a migraine?

Please let me know what you all think ASAP. I am still a little scared

that maybe something else is going wrong.

Thanks.

I have TERRIBLE migraines, especially at that time of the month? I

don't have some of the symptoms that you have, but blurred vision, and

someone stabbing me in the side of the head with a sword, that describes the

pain. I recently had one that lasted for 36 hours, and I couldn't do

anything but put ice, and lay there. I take Maxalt (like imitrex) whenever

I feel one coming on, and that usually takes care of it. This one, I took 3

(the maximum dose) and NOTHING! I hope you talk to your doctor so he can

give you some medication (more....) to take the next time. Or maybe you'll

be lucky and it will be the only one!

Those new strobe lights on police cars and ambulances drive me crazy. When

Mike's driving I can look away and close my eyes when I drive it's another

story. One time I broke my glasses at the grocery store and it was night. the

hallos around the lights were terrible, by the time I got home 10 minutes later

I

was throwing up like crazy. I used to take meds years ago for migranes they

didn't owrk about 75% of the time so I taught myself relaxation techniques.

It has helped me threw several surgeries, 2 C-sections, and now I think many

pancreas attacks that I sought no care for. I have also worked with Cassie

trying to teach her this it helps with the $%^ & dr's wont give her anything for

pain.

Eye DR once told me I had a very odd shaped optical nerves and It's the way I

filter light that causes the sensitivity to it. As i said before I wear

glasses which I have UV filter put on have for almost 20 years, its a must if

you

wear glasses and do any amount of computer work but it does not do a thing

for strobes. When I was younger I would spend days under blankets blocking out

light, even if it creeped under the door I'd be vomiting and crying from the

pain. I have gotten beyond that. My pain is like you descrbed but it also

hurts to move my eyes, to blink even.

My husband gets them worse - he has cluster headaches. Smells set him off

really quick and not just overly sweet things like candles, & perfume but

chemicals too. Also throws him into asthma attacks most the time he uses

imetrex

for migrane relief and his combivent inhaler for his asthma. Some one wearing

to much perfume can ruin at trip to the movies in 30 seconds flat.

Sorry that you have migranes on top of CP. I wonder how many CP sufferers

get migranes? God bless.

Every single time Cassie has had an attack she gets terrible headaches. I'm

not sure if we'd call it a migrane, never really thought about asking her how

intense it was. Dr's have always tried to put it off on pain meds, but she

has the headache even before she's receives any so it cant be that
