Guest guest
Diane, I definitely feel that there is a correlation between Pancreatitis and the menstrual cycle. First of all they are both involving the hormonal systems. I often forget that insulin is a hormone, too. The other thing that I think affect my pain is the presence of large amount of adhesions, from multiple surgeries (C-Sections, Cholecystectomy, and the Distal Pancreatectomy. I also had my left ovarian tube wrapped around my intestine and subsequently removed) I think during different times of the cycle, this causes the adhesions to push and pull and contributes to the pain. One time long before I was diagnosed with Pancreatitis, I complained of severe abdominal pain; exploratory surgery revealed extensive adhesions, which the surgeon said was causing the pain. The adhesions were cut away and I was flushed with saline. But, the doctor said that some people are just prone to scarring and develop adhesions more than others. Karyn E. , RN Exec.
