I would get one from you OTO doctor because they are a little smaller to fit in you nose. What I do with my daughter is I have her put her head over the sink and you need to point the syringe bulb towards her ear at first I what squeeze the bulb slow then each time I would increase the presser because the more presser the more gunk you get out of there. If it bothers his ears when you squirt the water in there have him say something like puppy puppy puppy because it will close the area to his ear drum so water doesn't get behind it. But I think since I was told to point the syringe towards her ears it goes into her sinus area better. I hope this helps. Deb A
Guest guest
Jan, When I did nasal lavage, I never used the syringe method. If you own a waterpik - for your teeth, you can get a nasal lavage attachment. It is a small piece of plastic that fits the water pik, that just rests on the outside of your nose. Nothing is inserted into the nost. Then you use the recipe for the solution your doctor gave you ( using warm water and 1/2 t of salt is what I used) and you turn the waterpik to the lowest pulsation. You keep your mouth open and breath through your mouth. You do this over a sink of basin. The water will go up one nostril and come out the other in a few seconds. That is what I did.
