Guest guest
> Does anyone have slight ankle swelling during the day? I drink a ton of water during the day, but do not urinate as much as I think I should for the amount I drink. At night though I am up every couple hours urinating an extreme amount. Does anyone have this or know what might be causing it. > nancy T. (Ohio) , I don't mean to alarm you, but you need to have your doctor check you for diabetes, immediately!!! These are some of the first symptoms of diabetes, and I can tell you from personal experience, that the sooner you catch it, the easier it will be for you. I experienced this last year, and my doctor mistakenly blamed it on a new medication I was taking, and within three months I was in Intensive care with diabetic ketoacidosis. The ankle swelling is caused by edema, a common diabetic problem. I have it off and on now. The frequent nightime urination, combined with excessive daytime thirst, is the first indicator of diabetes. I just sent you a note offline about the night sweats before I saw this post, and when I saw this one I cringed, because of what happened to me. Please have yourself checked as soon as you can. Nothing would make me happier than to know I'm wrong about this. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth hhessgriffeth@... South Carolina SC and SE Regional Representative PAI, Intl. Guest guest
, One sign of high blood sugar is frequent urination most often at night. Do you have diabetes? If so how are your blood checks looking? If you do not have diabetes I think you should pursue this with your primary care physcian. It might something quite benign but it could herald the beginning of diabetes which can occur as a result of pancreatitic damage. Better safe than sorry. good luck, Bert
Guest guest
, some pain medicines can cause edema (swelling - some times in the ankles). I know mine does and the doctors have put me on a diuretic (Lasix) and a potassium supplement since diuretics can cause low potassium levels. I take methadone. You might want to check if your pain medication can cause edema. You need to bring this up to your doctor as extreme edema can cause a lot of problems. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
