Guest guest
Hi All, I hope everyone is doing fairly well. I have not had a good couple of days which leads me to my question. Is it common for CP sufferers to lose their appetite for periods at a time? It seems to me that when I lose my appetite, I get a bad attack shortly after. Does anyone else experience this? Thanks, Pat

Read about it in my message " Still around " . Mind the solution I have found for it. Inspite of the loss of appetite you can eat very often little portions of food. Even liquid (breakfast type) food helps fighting the upcoming of a pain attack due to bad nutrition. Regards, Danny.
Guest guest
Pat, I do, if I don't eat, usually after a night's sleep, and don't feel hungry, therefore don't eat any breakfast, or even if I miss a meal or inbetween meals, I get pain on top of pain, sometimes leading to a full blown attack, other times, stops after a while. Sometimes, eating can ease it. Doctor's I spoke to about this told me it had nothing to do with my pancreatitis, yet the pain is the same, and now I know better. Guest guest
Pat, Until you wrote that, I had never really thought about it, but, yes, that's the way I start an attack. First I lose interest in food, and that's why often I question what food it could have been that brought on the attack, because usually I haven't eaten too much for a day or two ahead of the attack. I wonder how many others feel the same way? Please let us know how else we can help you. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep. PAI, Intl. Guest guest
Hi Pat, I have to agree with what the others wrote. In fact, loss of appetite is the second worse symptom I have (besides the pain). I can go without eating for over 24 hours and then only eat a sandwich and a soda on the days that I can eat. This can go on for a week or for a couple of months (this last one that I am in the middle of now started the last week of July - have yet to eat a " normal " diet since). Right now, this is the worse after-effect of friday's ERCP - can't eat yet, just tried to sip some Boost - got very nauseous. I know that I have to force myself but right now just don't have the strength. OK off, track, can you tell that I am still foggy from the meds! Guest guest
Pat, yes, I've had times where I've lost my appetite and it does seem to occur a lot when I have a bad flare of pancreatitis pain. I think it's the body's way of saying " hey, that's going to make me worse, don't eat anything " just before an attack of pain/nausea. It doesn't always happen when I have an attack, so I can't use it as a sure-fire warning sign that an attack is going to happen. Sometimes they just happen with no warning at all with attacks. But, I wanted to let you know that you are not alone in the loss of appetite. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
