Thanks for the reply Patty. If I remember correctly, this is how

the last attack started. But it was all at once. If this is my

pancreas, then things are not as stable as I had thought. I am

almost hoping it is an ulcer! At least they can fix that. I have

upper endoscopy before last April and my stomach was very red and

raw, just under having an ulcer. I cannot take Prilosec or Protonix

or any of that stuff. I have to take over the counter Pepcid and be

careful with it because they all cause pancreatitis and most of my

pancreatitis is induced now by chemical and other odors and drugs.

Originally sphincter of oddi dysfunction but they remedied that

problem but not the damage to the pancreas. That is why I think it

is an ulcer or close to it.

As far as endoscopy now, they are leery because I absolutely have NO

veins. I have had multiple complications from central lines, no

large veins left for that and am a " malpractice nightmare " as far as

veins go. I have to wear a medic alert bracelet because of it. So

upper GI is not invasive, no needles, etc. If they can't do it,

they can't do it and we will figure it out after that. May have to

do a femoral vein IV and just do the endo. What a hassle this is!

Thanks for the reply.

Kaye,

I had similar pain years ago when I was in college. They did

an upper endoscopy, but didn't find an ulcer. They DID find

an abnormally large amount of stomach acid. Treatment:

Zantac. Luckily I only have a few medication allergies and

that isn't one of them. They figured if they hadn't done the

endoscopy, I'd probably have had an ulcer by now.
