Guest guest
Kaye You are describing the exact pain Cassie has experienced all her life. Up untill that fatail morning in October 2000 when eating didn't take the pain, caused her to get violently ill and left her in the grips of her 1st acute attack. I'm not sure what to tell you about its cause. For years dr's told us it was just her being hungry, we know different now. This last September she had and upper endoscopy and several portions of her upper GI track where biopsied. No yucky drinks involved. maybe they can check things out that way Patty Hurst Bangor, ME Maine State Rep PAI
Guest guest
Dear Kaye, I know that to do upper GI endoscopy it's not so much nice but sometimes it is necessary. Look, I done more than 13, since I became ill at 1996/7. It's the best test to dx any internal GI problem as ulcer, reflux, hiatal hernia, H. pylori infection, gastritis, etc. If you're talking about endoscopy, you must do not drink nothing. You will need a light sedation and a tube will look down on your esophagus, after on your stomach, and soon after in your duodenum. As you said " drink " I was wondering if your doc ordered for you a barium RX swallow. By the way if you are not feeling OK, a test will be a good option to a correct dx. My grandfather died from bleeding duodenal ulcer that hemorrhaged. Good Luck, Liane
Guest guest
Liane: We are doing the upper GI now because its a starting poitn. I had a upper endoscopy a year ago and it showed inflammation in my stomach but no ulcer so it is probably the same old problem. My mom had a bleeding ulcer back in August and I know it is very dangerous. Hers was caused by H. pylori. They can do blood tests for H. pylori also which I had done. Didn't hear anything I assume it is normal. I will ask them when I call about the upper GI. Probably I will wind up with an upper endoscopy before it is all over with. It just feels like that knawing pain all the time, not really even pain, just this knawing feeling and nausea. Could still be the pancreas but it sure feels better when I eat. Who knows! I can't take Zantac either because it care flare the pancreas.....or at least I won't take it. Seeing as how most of my attacks now are cuased by drugs of some kind I am very careful and that makes it hard. I am taking over the counter strength Pepcid and I bet it is not strong enough. I think I have inherited my moms stomach! Take care Kaye
