Please send the link again. Thank you, Shirley

Regarding Vioxx ( http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/rofecox_ad.htm ) and

Nurontin http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/gabapent_ad.htm ), if you

look on rxlist.com and look at side effects, it will tell you that in

RARE occurances or less than 2% of patients for Vioxx and in 1/1000

patients for nurontin, it has caused pancreatitis. I have refused to

take either for just those reasons. I realize there is a long list of

medicinesd out there that can cause pancreatitis...like motrin in large

doses, but for my own self, I won't take anything that can give me what

I already have. I worry that those may even cause an attack to happen.

This is just my opinion. I am glad that you got your SSDI in such a

short time and if these drugs help you and your fine with them, then

good for you! I have taken 1 nurontin before I looked at the side

effects and it works to take away the pain and make you sleepy. My mom,

a breast cancer survivor, is on Nurontin on my advice for her lymphodema

for the pain. It is helping her a great deal.

There has only been 1 ERCP where I haven't ended up in the hospital for

an acute attack afterward. In my opinion they go hand in hand. But that

is for me. As far as a drug making me hyper, that would be the Percocet

I take. But I have finally found a drug to take with it that makes me

sleepy enough that it takes away the percocet making me wired. It is

also a good pain releaver. It is Ativan 1 mg. With the Percocet, I

take 2 of the Ativan.

Good luck to you and I hope some of what I have said helps. Please

remember that these are facts you can look up, but the part about not

taking them is my choice only. Not on doctor reccomendation.

Thank you. My mom is doing better with the lymphodema since getting on

the nurontin. My pancreatic specialist was the one that prescribed the

nurontin for me and thinks I am " silly " for not taking it. He also said

the same for me not taking the Vioxx. He told me that if I was going to

be that way with those drugs, then I would probably never take another

drug again since there are alot of drugs out there that can cause

pancreatitis in RARE occurances. So be prepared for that. Also, I

printed out this info on the drugs for the doctor and brought it to him

when I decided not to take the drugs and he dismissed it. So be

prepared for that also.

I have regular endoscopies and colonoscopies due to another illness

I suffer from, and never have any side affects from these, except

for gas pains later on, but that will happen with ERCP's also. The

only reaction I could think that someone would have would be if any

dyes are used, or the stuff one has to take to clean out the colon

if you have an allergy to that (which would be rare), and the last

being if you suffer a reaction to the anaesthetic, which having had

an ERCP, you would already know if that has happened. As to

pancreatitis after both of those tests, I have never had an attack

from a basic endoscopy and colonoscopy, only when I have an ERCP,

which in my case is every 6-8 weeks for stent changes.

for the upper GI endoscopy, about half the time it would cause an attack

of pancreatitis. This is a known possible complication of upper GI's. I

just wanted to warn you. In my case, it always depended upon if they got

into the pancreatic ducts or not. If they got in the ducts, I'd have an

attack of pancreatitis. My ducts are smaller than normal though and that

may be why I had the attacks of pancreatitis when they got into the

ducts. I know that others have also had attacks of pancreatitis after

the upper Endoscopys (ERCP's).

>Kimber thank you for telling me this. I also has have small ducts so I was

real concerned. I will do just about anything to stay out of the hospital so I

think I will only let them do the colonoscopy and leave it at that. My 5 year

old freaks out if I have go to the ER for anything so I know he'll be nervous

when I go in for the colonoscopy, I don't want anything to happen and have to

stay there. Thank you again,
