Hi ,

I am one of the lucky (yea right!) ones that has a chronic pancreatitis

diagnosis and no " documented " cases of amylase & lipase elevations. It took me

3

years to finally get the diagnosis. Unfortunately this disease it a tricky

one. My GI told me that the amylase & lipase can rise and fall very fast, but

the

pain still can go on once the a & l levels return to normal. I am so sorry

that your daughter has pain. I hope that they do find out what is wrong and

that it isn't pancreatits, but something very simple to cure. If you have

specific questions post them. Everyone here is full of information and usually

pretty willing to share :)

Sending lots of happy thoughts your way....

,

If you have Chronic Pancreatitis, it is entirely possible to have an

acute attack without having raised A & L levels. Mine do not raise

anymore. Sometimes this is puzzeling to doctors less knowlegable about

the disease. One of the first things they want to test for is raised A

& L levels. I hope this pain is something else for your daughter.

I'll keep you in my thoughts.

hospital. Now of course with me, I don't have enough pancreas

left to create them.

My 11 year old suffered an acute attack starting April 24. During the

attack his levels were elevated. Even though his levels are

completely normal at this point he continues to suffer from major

pain episodes. Our local docs are thinking it's not the pancreas.

We believe we are heading soon to our Boston docs for a GI work up

and hopefully some answers that make sense.

Hope you get some answers with your daughter.
