Guest guest
Hi, I am joining this group bcos my fiance was hospitalized 10 days ago with all the symptoms of Pancreatitis. He is 31 and only drinks once in a blue moon, smokes 2 cigs every night, does not have high calcium or triglycerides, no gall stones or have a family history. He was told yday that his first attack damaged 40-50% of his pancreas and that they will do surgery after 2-3 weeks to remove the damaged tissue. They dont know why he had this attack. The doc said that some patients have a few months to live, some have to have surgery and some recover without surgery. He will have to have surgery. I am not sure what kind of life he is going to have without have his pancreas. I wanted to know if anyone else in this group is in the same situation and how are they doing. This is so new to us and I had never realized pancreatitis can be so debilitating. I have been crying all day yday when he was not looking. They have him knocked out with pain medication and I wonder how he is feeling. He is a person who never shows when he is sad and I wondered how he felt after I left his hospital room last night. He tellin me dont be sad bcos I am not going anywhere, you cant get rid of me easily. They have a tube in his stomach to drain the acids. I am so scared. I read more about Pancreatitis on the net and trying to learn as much as I can to get an understanding. I am a Biology major so I understand what I am reading but I want to know will he have a fairly normal life after surgery. Please give me as much information as you can. All the comments or suggestions will be helpful. Wish you all the best. Please pray for Karan. Sapna
