Dear Karyn I agree with you. To remove islet cells from a live donor makes

me very uncomfortable. I know that I would never let my love ones donate

their islets to me especially with me know how fragile the pancreas is. I

would need some real convincing on this matter. The DL sounds great to me.

Why wasn't that thought about before? Maybe we are missing something. I

hope we learn all about this at the symposium. Shirley

Karyn...each state is different I guess...I just have to check a box

on my drivers' license saying I am an organ donor.....as for them

" learning " from your pancreas...you can donate your entire body to

" science " ...to a university that has a med school attached...the

trouble is it's my understanding that they want relatively healthy

bodies ! " Die young and leave a beautiful corpse " was my dad's motto

with his odd sense of humor! He's stick alive and kicking at 73! :)

Nobody knows where I have gotten all my illnesses and aches and pains

from as no one in my family has ANY of the things I do ! My sister

is 4 inches shorter than I am and outweighs me by 100 pounds !!! and

has totally normal lab values ! Even her pancreatitis attack was

the " normal " way...gallstones in the duct ! Sheesh ! NOT that I

would wish any of this on her in an way shape or form,. but it does

make you wonder !!

Talk to you later...

Jeannine
