Guest guest
Hi Guys - I have heard that anything with morphine will cause spasms and I think also codeine. I take 75 fentenyl patch + 40 oxycontin pill (They took me off of the oxycodone -- spasms?) + 800 fentenyl lollipops called ACTIQ. Most of the time my pain is in control. I still feel uncomfortably full and I also feel like I cannot bend over as well. Does anyone else feel this? Or is 41 years, OLD? Think of me tomorrow as I talk to the surgeon who will remove my tumors in my pancreas.... Love you all, Staci
Guest guest
Staci, when my pain is bad, I have problems bending over too. So you are not the only one and it's not because you are getting old, since I'm only 33. You have my prayers that all goes well with your meeting with the surgeon. Guest guest
Hi Staci - I'm hoping for you that your doctor visit went well. I also have read in many places that morphine is contraindicated for this because it can increase spasms. I tried the fentanyl patch but got a rash all over my body that disappeared right after I took it off - so guess I'm allergic to it. I wish you all the best - Anita Re: Re: Spasms from Staci Hi Guys - I have heard that anything with morphine will cause spasms and I think also codeine. Guest guest
Hi, Staci! My husband cannot bend over either ... but he's also got two pseudocysts - one pressing on the stomach. Prior to the cysts, his insides were so warped from the pancreatitis. I logged onto the internet and found a site visually comparing a normal CT scan to a pancreatitis CT scan. What a TOTAL difference in all the organs - it's just a mess! It's neat to see the comparison. Also, when my husband was admitted to the hospital, the nurses discovered he was on oxycodone and boy-oh-boy did they tell me to get it out of there. They said if he asks for it, DO NOT give it to him. (Whether due to masking the condition ... or whether they've seen too many problems with the drug, they did not want it in the ICU at all. He did almost die because he felt 'good' on oxycodone.) A few weeks later, after his pain began subsiding, the doctors prescribed percocet for him. I read (look at me researching the internet again!) that percocet of course contains acetaminophen -- which is an irritant to the pancreas. My husband's tight, full abdomen initially was attributed to his digestive system beginning to work again. He had a tremendous amount of gas - and still does. Yesterday the doctor told us possibly some sugars and/or lactose is passing into the bowels without being properly digested ... meaning he needs to take another enzyme capsule. Good luck, you 41-year-old youngster you!!! Thoughtfully, Beth
