Guest guest
We just returned from Ashton's GI appt and this new doc (we just moved to Kansas) told us that Peptamen Jr is so predigested that we shouldn't need any enzymes. I just hooked him up to the g-tube and for the first time in his life, he didn't get any enzymes. Weird. Has anyone used Peptamen Jr without enzymes? We have to keep a close eye on his stools and weight gain. It sure would be nice to not have to give enzymes!! --mom to Ashton 23 months wcf
Guest guest
, this new doctor may be confusing Peptamen Jr. with Pregestimil (or possibly Tolerex) which is " predigested " . That is definitely NOT the case with Peptamen Jr. which has a high fat content and which would be dangerous to give without enzymes. My four y/o daughter is tube-fed Peptamen Jr. and gets four Creon 10's with each 300 ml. bolus. I am afraid you are probably going to see " floaters " pretty quickly with no enzymes! Check with a cf doctor or dietician.
