Guest guest
Anita I know what your talking about with this spasm. There are time it is quite annoying yet it's not painfull. Sometime I wonder if I were to lay someons had on my stomach if they could feel this I havent tried it though. I havent had the chance yet to question Dr about this. Guest guest
Thanks Patty! Your description sounds exactly like what I experience. I've been having them all evening in fact. Meant to call the Dr. today but didn't get to it. I'll call my doc at Virginia Mason in Seattle who's more of a specialist. It's the weirdest thing and yes, it is annoying. Kind of takes my breath away for a minute. I wonder if anyone else out there has had it and knows what it is. All my best Anita
Guest guest
Thanks for the response Keri. I don't think I have the same thing, but yours sounds alot worse. These spasms aren't really painful - just takes my breath away and is irritating. It doesn't really happen much when I'm having an attack of pancreatitis - just in between attacks. I hope you get your situation figured out and get that pain relieved! Take care Anita
Guest guest
Anita Do you have any kids? Some times it reminds me of when I was pregnant and the baby moved a lot only it continues some times for hours. And again for the most part not painful just really annoying and uncomfortable. I'm going to ask Cassie about this and see if she has then ask her GI on Monday about it. Patty Hurst Bangor, ME Maine State Rep PAI
Guest guest
Hi all, I have had these spasms alot. The doctor used to RX belladonna for them as they were happening VERY frequently and it seemed 24 hours a day. Then after a few months they stopped all together. I once put my hubby's hand on my pancreas area and he could feel it spasm as well as visually see it. But they never hurt. It was just most annoying! :-) Sandy
Guest guest
I get what I call a " pulsing " like the gall bladder or pancreas is expelling their bile or enzymes to aid in the digestion process. I have found taking Lecithin capsules (large oily capsules much like the Omega-3's) helps reduce the pulsing and discomfort...I also take my digestive enzymes... and gas pains can be quite uncomfortable...so gas-x or simethicone can help relieve that. The gas builds up due to improper digestion of the foods we are eating... Jeannine Anita...I'm a neighbor of yours, of sorts...we live in Auburn and both of us work at the VA in Seattle on Beacon Hill.... > Thanks Patty! > > Your description sounds exactly like what I experience. Guest guest
Hi Patty - I've been gone for a couple days for work so am just getting to my emails. I have a son and you're right - those spasms do feel sort of like when he moved alot. It's sort of like - I know something is doing something in there - just not sure exactly what! I'll be really interested to see what Cassie's GI doc says. I still didn't get a chance to call mine at Virginia Mason and my doc here was really vague and didn't give me an answer. Take care - Anita
Guest guest
Hi Sandy - Did your doctor ever say what caused the spasms? I thought belladonna was a hallucinogen. What is it exactly? You're right - the spasms aren't painful, they just kind of take my breath away for a minute sometimes and other times just are uncomfortable. Thanks for responding. Take care - Anita

Guest guest
Anita, I was never told what caused my spasms. Because they weren't painful in any way and because I enjoyed feeling my son inside my belly, I really didn't mind them. It really does feel like a baby moving around inside you. They eventually went away and only return on occasion. I actually haven't felt one in a long time. The belladonna, I was told, was a spasm or muscle relaxer. I never halucinated on it at all. But it did make me extremly tired. And with an active boy, I choose to not take any medication that might make me tired. I don't want to miss out on even 1 minute with my son. This disease has taken enough time away from the both of us. Sandy
Guest guest
Thanks Sandy! I'm hopeful my spasms will go away or lessen also. At least it sounds like it's nothing serious. My son is 16 now and also very hard to keep up with! Of course when he was a toddler I was always running, but luckily didn't have this problem then.
