When we did Cassie's interview they already had all her paperwork from all

dr's etc... There main concern for us was our financial situation. What did we

make, who did we owe what to, how was this a financial hardship on us etc..

We never really had any questions about her physical health. We di have

several related to mental health and school issues though. I suppose in your

case

it would be work. I know the application process is different for kids than

adults. I also know that it is much easier for a kid to get it then an

adult. My older brother was trying since 1999 to SSI he has server heart and

diabeties issues anlong with a stroke just to make things interesting. I

applied

for Cassie in May of 2002, she received her 1st check end of June along with

medical cards. We didn't receive letter notifing us till mid - July. My

brother finally got his in September 2002.

I'm not sure if this will help you at all. We wish you luck on Monday,

Heidi,

If this is your initial contact phone interview, the main things you

will want to have is a list of All jobs you have ever held including

dates of employment, wages, and position held. This was the largest

pain in the rump. They were pretty good about accepting the dates of

employment to the best of my memory, but it was still a huge hastle.

They will also want to know the specific time you became unable to

work. Not necessarily when the condition began, but when it made you

unable to maintain employment. It is probably a good idea to have

your kids' (if you have them) dates of birth and SS numbers I seem to

remember them wanting those too. Other than your doctors info this is

all that I remember having to look up. Expect the call to take awhile

so plan to have a half hour or so quiet time for the call. They were

very kind and helpful with me. After your call they will send you a

print out of all the information you gave to read verify and sign.

Don't worry if your brain feels a little mushy after the call, this

is normal and temporary, HA HA! Only because of the enormous amount

of information covered, not because it is necessarily difficult to

answer.
