I live in ton and have been seeing Dr. Cotton's associates.

I have SOD secondary to a lap chole and when I had my first ercp

they discovered I had ductal tortuosity; the stent did not migrate

and they considered it a failed attempt. He referred me back to my

surgeon who then referred me back to the ercp doc. I am having

another ercp next week to take a look before advancing to anything

more invasive. I am very aprehensive about the entire situation.

Thanks,

Who did your stent placement? What do you mean the stent did not

migrate? Do you mean it migrated....meaning moved around or you

passed the stent? Sometimes it takes more than one time to get

relief. I had a couple stents and balloon dilatation and then

sphincterotomy and finally the last itme I went he found the tiniest

place in the duct that was still tight and put a small stent in. It

was right at the entrance to the pancreas. I have not been back

since. I am assuming the ERCP doc is the one who put the stent in?

it might just take a few different therapies before you

get relief. You got this from a lap chole....I got mine from a

hysterectomy. The bile duct got damaged. The laparoscopic

cholecystectomies are famous for causing this problem. I remember

the nurses in ton telling me that was causing a lot of them.

Actually I had a lap chole also about six years after hte

hysterectomy and about 7 years before they found all this SOD and

pancreatitis. I remember having an " attack " of this pain the day

after the cholecystectomy. They blamed it on a gallstone that

got " lost " and passed. I had this 14 years before they found it.

They only found it when it finally turned into pancreatitis 14 years

after the original injury! So now I have chronic pancreatitis.

Don't have much trouble with the SOD though, once in awhile.

Keep trying and don't give up. It is easy to give up and

go looking elsewhere but I believe you are in the best place int he

country and you have to keep trying and be persistent. I remember

Dr. Cotton telling me that as long as I was willing to try, he would

hang in there with me and he did.

take care and keep in touch.
