Thank you so much. That little bit of info has helped alot. Now I can at least

picture it. I can't wait for this new Dr apt. hopefully he can help me. By the

way when you had the stent placed, did you need to be hospitalized? Did it

cause an attack? I am hesitant to do anything that will bring on a major

attack.

Thanks Again,

How do you make this kind of decision? Does your quality of life increase when

you have the stent?

overdid it. Please take care of yourself and rest as much as you can. I know

my pain is worse when I overdo it.

Robin,

I was told by my specilaist that a stent can only stay in place in the

ducts for no longer than 3 weeks. The only reason it would be left in

there longer is if you had cancer. Thats what I was told. I also

could feel the stent in me for as long as it was in me. Sounds weird,

but thats the truth.

I was supposed to go for stents placed and removed every month for at

least a year in hopes that the duct would scar in an open position.

Everytime I had an ERCP I had an attack. I had 1 stent palced and

removed and that was April of 2002 and I have been fine (no ER or

Hospitals) since then. Yes, I have pain almost on a daily basis.

Sometimes bad, requiring darvocet or percocet and sometimes just a

relaxing breathing technique and hot water or heat works to get through

the episode. It's clearly your choice as to whether you want to do a

Stenting proceedure so often. I chose not to. Just FYI, I have SOD and

Moderate to Severe Chronic Pancreatitis.

Follow your heart. It will tell you what to do.
