Guest guest
Aggie, Yeast can definitely go to the anus and often does. It can be read and itchy but invisible to the eye. I would be highly, highly suspicious that he still has it if he is poking at it. Good news is, the Nystatin worked! All of that improvement is a clear sign that he was certainly stuggling with yeast overgrowth. I would agree that a short time of treatment may not be enough. Nystatin is the prescription antifungal that can be used long term, so there is no harm in just continuing to use it. Can she get a refill? We've been on it for over 2 years. There are periods of time when we don't need it, but her yeast flares up especially when we are chelating. Keep in mind, yeast is always there...it's just a matter of how much control you have over it. Also, keep up the following: Probiotics (I like Healthy Start Natren), Digestive Enzymes, and a diet that doesn't promote yeast growth (no sugars, yeasts). All of that will help tremendously. Look for any dry patches of skin, as that may also be a sign of an internal yeast problem. --------- Re: [ ] Re: The DAN thing
Guest guest
I have a question about this too! Last week, I started Mark on Candex for yeast. WELL! What a disaster!!! This is NOT a stimmy kid. He began to stim and acted very odly. His scrotum was unbearably itchy and he was really, really uncomfortable. I felt badly about it but I suspect this was die-off? Not sure what was going on there. I immediately stopped for a few days. I have just begun trying once more but JUST at bedtime and then giving him some Activated Charcoal about 45 minutes after the Candex. This has seemed to work but will we be getting the same results with killing the yeast? I have been meticulous about giving him probiotics and coconut kefir to replace the bad bacteria. Any comments or suggestions would be absolutely appreciated. Janice Re: [ ] Re: The DAN thing
Guest guest
Definitely sounds like a die off reaction. You are doing the right thing by going with a lower dose, keeping up the probiotics and keifer. You will get the same results, and he will feel much better. (Die off causes not only stims, but head aches, rashes, nausea, diarhea, and overall yuckiness.) Good news, you know he has a yeast problem. If the charcoal isn't working, try using 1/4 tsp of baking soda. Last thing, stick with the low dose, only stop if absolutely necessary...don't rotate antifungals unless you absolutely have to (like if the Candex doesn't work). --------- Re: [ ] Re: The DAN thing

Guest guest
Sure, general lethargy in our case...then followed by bouts of major agression/rage. --------- Re: [ ] Re: The DAN thing > >

Guest guest
Liz...I think I read that it can. Cole actually got sick with a fever and congestion in his nose over Memorial Day Weekend. The doctor talked to me on the phone and we decided to wait it out until their office was opened again. The nurse on call had the doctor call me because she felt that if we went to Urgent Care, they would put him on an antibiotic. Since they felt that was the cause of his thrush, waiting seemed like a better idea. The doctor was in touch with us so it wasn't so bad but he really seemed sick. He didn't want to do anything and he did sleep. After that weekend, he was ok again and acting like a different kid. I don't remember if it was this board or the Vit K board, but someone told me that it sounded like die off and that the congestion stuff could be yeast moving to sinuses. I saw some strange stuff. He spit up white stuff that looked like tofu and I saw some white pearly stuff in his poop. Besides Nystatin, I used grapefruit seed extract and cut out sugar and drastically cut down on anything that would turn to sugar. I didn't know at the time that I shouldn't have been so aggressive...assuming that is what made him so sick.
