Jayne

Jayne,

If I knew of any that worked, believe me, I'd be shouting it to the

treetops. There is a medium chain triglyceride product called

Peptamen here in the states that has worked for a lot of people

who suffered from weight loss. It comes in a can like " Ensure " .

Unfortunately, I tried it, and couldn't tolerate it, it gave me

pancreatic pain and nausea, so I gave it up. There is another

product called " Udo's Choice " , which is a perfected oil blend

dietary supplement that contains 231 mg. of medium chain

triglycerides and other essential oils. This product is distributed

by Flora, Inc. in the US. I also tried this after someone else

reported success with it, took it for three months, and still no

increase in weight. I weight 108 pounds, and I should weigh

130. Maybe one of these products might work for your husband,

as everyone is different. My malabsorbtion from the chronic

pancreatitis and the diabetes mellitus is a complex and

challenging situation, your husband's might be much easier to

solve.

Another thing that usually helps CP patients to gain weight are

pancreatic enzyme supplements like Creon, Viokase or Ultrace.

Is your husband on enzyme supplements? When I first got CP

two years ago, I had lost 15 pounds due to sickness with the CP.

Once I started taking the enzyme supplements regularly, I was

then able to gain back those 15 pounds.

If you find out anything else that works, please share it with us

all. Being severly underweight is no fun at all, and your husband

has my sympathy and my understanding.

With hope and prayers,
