My son was finally seen by Dr. Dorkin at MGH this week and we are

to return in two weeks. What a super man but it seems we are in such

a whirlwind of information. Several surprises for me this visit. DS

was partially blocked in his lungs and is now on an inhaler for the

first time. Did your children take a while to get used to the meds

because my son is finding that it makes him hyper and a little light

headed I think.

The doctor repeated the sweat test(the third), did throat cultures

and xrays. The doctor called me at home and told me his abdominal

xray showed he was completely filled with stool and needed to go on

Milk of Magnesia 2T. Again another surprise for me. I am having the

sections of his two polyps surgeries sent to his as well a a previous

chest xray. We are supposed to take a stool sample with in us (Great

thing to take in on the subway/train)LOL.

He also gave us the nasal saline solution recipe you all have posted

but didn't really show me how to use it. Could one of you kind souls

tell me how to position his head and the bulb etc. so I get the least

resistance to trying this? Also what type of container do you use and

how do you sterilize the bulb/ container after each use?

On our return visit he will probably draw blood for the Amber

testing as well as for vitamin work up.

I am having a little trouble processing all this as my son has been

relatively healthy and very active most of his life except for his

chronic sinusitis in the winter.
