Guest guest
> The new GI that I asked my gyno to refer me to, his office nurse called me on Wed to set up the exam. I was surprised it was so soon. Anyway, the nurse was very nice and explained things, unlike my current GI's staff. I asked her if she could possibly acquire previous medical records to help the doctor elvauate my present condition, and she said she would think it best to try. Also, wanted to see ifshe could get my records from my current GI, and Itold her GOODLUCK, because they would not give them to me upon two verbal requests and one faxed to their office. My prayers are being answered...... Sandi in WV Sandi, It seems that you have found a better doctor just in the nick of time. I was intrigued at your comment that your present GI would not give you copies of your records, either by personal request, or by fax. This is a violation of your rights, and legally, he cannot withhold your medical records. All you need is an authorization for release of records, and they have to give them to you. I have a copy of a release if you should need one. They may charge you for copies, some practice's do, and some don't, and they may request a few days notice, but they CAN NOT, by law, restrict you from obtaining copies! This other GI sounds much more aggressive and interested in finding out the cause of your problem, instead of just treating symptoms with no follow-through. Good luck on your ultrasound and upper endoscopy on Thursday. I hope they find out what's causing you troubles. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
