Guest guest
This happened to me and it was from the stomach medication they were giving me. They finally found one that agrees with me. It is called AcipHex. With Prevacid the taste in my mouth was so bad nothing you ate or drank tasted good.
Guest guest
Myrna, I sometimes have a bad taste when I burp when I'm not doing well. It kind of tastes like burnt popcorn. Is this the kind of thing you are talking about? It doesn't seem to be related to any of my meds. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Guest guest
Myna, Do you have a white coating on your tongue? Have you been on antibiotics? Look up oral thrush it is sometimes caused by a course of antibiotics or your natural resistence to infection is low. Just an idea Patty J
Guest guest
Maureen, actually, Viokase is an enzyme to help digest food since most of us can't produce enzymes anymore. It is not a thyroid medication. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Note: All advice given is personal opinion, not equal to that of a licensed physician or health care professional. Guest guest
Sorry when I looked it up the first article said it was for the thyroid when I looked further they said it was a digestive enzyme. I am new to this the only medication I have been given is for pain. If you have time tell me your story. I would like to hear what caused you to have this and how it started. Guest guest
I have acute pancreatitis and right now I think I am ok accept for this taste in my mouth and today it is pretty bad and making me feel a little sick and no food taste good or even water. I have my first attack a couple of years ago or more. I have a divisum, I believe it is called. I do not spell very well, so I am not sure that is how you spell it. At first they did not know what my problem was. They did know it was the pancreus and have been so good to treat that but did not know what caused it until the found the divisum .They could not find gall stones but finally found what they felt were really small ones and took out the gall bladder but I still have had three attacks. In 2002 I was in the hospital all of June, July and Aug and had a syst removed. Then in may of 2003 I had another attack and again the end of June, I have been ok, pain free since then but never know and am a little concerned tonight because of the taste in my mouth that will not go away. I live in Idaho and am tempted to go to a doctor in Pocatello that is suppose to be really good. A Dr . He did do a scope on me and I really liked him but it is 100 miles away and I am not really sick now or in pain even, just concerned. That is my story. -- Re: Bad taste / Myrna Sorry when I looked it up the first article said it was for the thyroid when I looked further they said it was a digestive enzyme. Guest guest
Hi Myrna this is Maureen I am from Louisiana. I had a stomach bacteria called H Pylori. The treatment for this is massive doses of antibiotics. I was allergic to the Baxtrim and this is when the attacks started. For 9 days I had 2 severe attacks a day. The doctor said this could not be the cause. I took myself off the Biasing and the attacks stopped. That's when he told me it probably was the Biaxin. Since then I have not had a severe attack but the pain is always there. Some days hardly any pain some days more. I have not been give any meds because they are still trying to find an underlying cause for the problem. I have just had an MRI and don't have the results back. My (I don't know how to spell this) Lipeese and leese levels are always high. But after all the blood tests that it the only problem. The ultra sound, x-rays and cat scans showed no problems anywhere but the pancreatis. I am 52 years old and have never had any medical problems in my life. I don't drink and my gall bladder is fine. I stopped the Prevacid myself because the doctor said this could not be causing the bad taste in my mouth. After 2 days the bad taste started going away. When I went to the doctor and told him this he admitted this was a rare side affect and changed it to AcipHex. One of the symptoms of Pancreatis is rapid unexplained weight loss. I was on jello & fat free pudding for 7 weeks. I only lost 10 pounds. I was then put on a liquid diet. I have been on this for over a week and have only lost 1 pound. I am overweight and I think if I have to starve like this the least I could do is loose more weight. The doctor thinks my not loosing weight is a good sign. I just want to know how bad this is and if they can do anything for it.
