Guest guest
Our DR. told me that as long as my son stays on the growth chart they will not have to put a tube in. He is 2yo weighs 27lbd (he has gained 2lbs since he started his enzymes) and is 33 in, tall. He doesn't eat at all. I mean literally at all. He eats maybe a bowl of cereal a day and nothing else. But I was reassured that as long has he doesn't drop in weight then he wont have to have a tube placed. Christal Mom of Tristan 6ncf, Zack 2wcf and Ki'a 4monthscf? Guest guest
Hi , I dont know if you have recieved responses to this yet, but here is our experience. had an ng tube when he was a baby, he gained nicely, we stopped the ng feeds because of his reflux, the tube aggravated it. His weight levelled off and kind of plateaued, so after keeping an eye on it for a few months without change, good change that is, his doc decided that we should do the tube feeds again. This time was a little over 2 years old, and he hated the tube being put down his nose, made him gag terrible. So we opted instead for the g-tube, now this isnt the answer for everyone, it is an individual thing, but for us it has been good. He has gained well, and now at 3 1/2 he weighs about 36 pounds and is taller than 3 feet, so it is a good thing. Also, the stress of trying to get him to eat has ended. We encourage food, would hate for him to lose interest in eating, but it isnt a fight anymore. If he eats that is wonderful, if he is just having one of those days, then we do boluses after lunch, depending on how much he has eaten, and he gets his feeds at night. Take care, , mommy of 4, 3 wcf, a g-tube and his wonderful personality, ,18, and she now has her own car, Caleb, 8 and getting too old to fast, and , 7, my little artist.
