Guest guest
It is possible for carriers to beget carriers for centuries wihout cf app earing, but if we all stop to think about our older, much older relatives, many died young, many were miscarried, many died of what was thought to be " comsumption, " a rather unfortunate old tem for Tubercu losis which was not then known, and many just could not overcome the viruses and bacteria that a healthy person can and died earlier than most of their relatives. .I think that in many of our families with a cf child, there is a " historyZ " there, if only we consider the possibilities. Besides this is a very old and very large gene affecting many populations. Few can truly claim that it has been no where in their families; often, we just are not sure. But this gene is a persistent one and underdiagnosed ev en today. So most of us remain unaware of a history that was there. n
