Guest guest
Hi, MCT stands for medium chain triglycerid. The special thing about MCT oil is, that the human body doesn't need enzymes to digest it. When researchers found that out more than 20 years ago they thought they had found the cure for CF. Unfortunately they didn't :-(( To my knowledge MCT oils are a good source of calories for those, who can tolerate it. But not all pwcf like it and not all tolerate it well. And as far as I know the body can't gain weight from MCT, it's just an energy source for immediate use. But it certainly is worth a try and I would love to hear good results from you. We have never tried it, because we prefer canola oil. It's almost tasteless and contains almost only mono-unsaturated fatty acids. Together with olive oil those two are the best for pwcf. But of course you need plenty of enzymes with these oils. Peace Torsten, dad of Fiona 5wcf e-mail: torstenkrafft@... questions about mct oil > Hi I was wondering if anyone has information on mct oil? Guest guest
My son used MCT oil (stands for Medium chain triglycerides) when he was 17. He gained 7 lbs. in one month by taking 1 tbs. twice a day. He drank two bottles during that month. At the end of the month, he caught the flu then mono, and ended up losing 6 lbs. It was nice we had those extra 7 lbs. to play with though. We bought our Twin Labs MCT oil at a health food store. I've also seen it at some GNC stores. It's a dark orange liquid. My son tried mixing it in juice but didn't like the way it made the juice taste, so he'd just hold his nose and swallow it plain. I was surprised when he asked me to buy a second bottle. When they're teens, they'll try almost anything I guess. Read the label before you buy. I looked at a bottle of Twin Labs MCT oil a couple months ago for a friend. It has something in it that made me think people who are watching their glycemic index or are diabetic might not want it -- but now I can't remember why.
