Guest guest
Hi Beth- I also have thickened walls of the small bowel. I was on TPN for almost 3 years straight with little to no food intake. I always thought it was from not eating, so it wasn't really in use very much. I also had LOTS of diarrhea, and have never really had " normal " BM's until just recently. It has not been a painful process, but I think it is probably getting back to normal. (whatever that is!) After 8 years of panc, there seems to be no pattern to the recovery from an attack. If I cheat and eat too soon I usually have a harder time (more pain unable to stand upright, etc) Some attacks are more severe than others, so I usually treat each one seperately. You can't judge recovery by panc levels. Think of it like a broken arm - just because the cast comes off doesn't mean the arm is at full strength. Hope this helps, and tell your son to keep smiling.
