Hi Beth-

I also have thickened walls of the small bowel. I was on TPN for almost 3

years straight with little to no food intake. I always thought it was from

not eating, so it wasn't really in use very much. I also had LOTS of

diarrhea, and have never really had " normal " BM's until just recently. It

has not been a painful process, but I think it is probably getting back to

normal. (whatever that is!)

After 8 years of panc, there seems to be no pattern to the recovery from an

attack. If I cheat and eat too soon I usually have a harder time (more pain

unable to stand upright, etc) Some attacks are more severe than others, so

I usually treat each one seperately. You can't judge recovery by panc

levels. Think of it like a broken arm - just because the cast comes off

doesn't mean the arm is at full strength.
