Return of , the neighbor's cat! - only remotely cf-related

I fell asleep early this evening and was not awakened (having apparent

ly left my door unlocked) until two things happened--a friend called very

late from back East (nuts!), and , whose owner had left her door

open as she emptied HER garbage, lept on my bed PURRING madly!

He seemed as I carried him back to Betty, a little leery of my bathroom,

but otherwise behaved quite gentlemanly in his perpetual tuxedo. He

seemed shocked that I was returning him! Betty gave him one of the

kitty biscuits that I had left there! He gave me that " How could you? "

look and we parted. As it happened, I coughed as I turned to return to

my apartment, and tore down the hall after me and dove into

my apartment and sat on my desk, looking disappointedly at the life

less computer. Betty came back to get him, clutched him in her arms,

and said to me, " See, he just loves you! " (more like my computer or my

television, I thought.) But it keeps this semi-invalid pretty happy. He

had been over this morning, too, sniffing at an opened can of tuna in

the refrigerator--yep, my mother always did say, " Of course animals

always love you, dear; you always smell like food! " Too true!
