Hi everyone,

I want to thank everyone who responded to my coping issue. It gets hard but

sometimes family is the only thing that matters......and that includes all of

you.

Well, my son's psuedomonas are resistant to TOBI. Now we will start on

Colistin (SP). I don't know if I should feel that they're trying to punish

us or they feel confident that I'll be able to handle all of these meds. that

he's on. What type of nebulizer do you use for this drug?

He will also start the cipro along with the colistin and zithromax. I feel

so overwhelmed now...I'm probably making a mountain out of a mole hill....but

until I get things under control and fall into a different routine I'll be

nervous about all of this.

Thanks for your support,

from PA

We have used the pari lc jet + for coly just like Tobi. I have heard and

used a few tips. Mix a day or two worth of it in advance and store in

refrig, this helps to cut down on the foaming. I have also heard but never

tried putting 1 drop of Everclear (yes the 100 % alcohol) in the neb with

the coly. I have heard that from more than one person, its been awhile since

Ang has been on coly but I have thought I'd try it next time.

Cipro and Zithromax are just a couple of new pills but they do need to be

taken without milk, well at least the cipro does, there are some

instructions about both but they aren't difficult. You'll be OK. Hang in

there, I hope your boy feels better soon.

love,

M

Collistin was the first drug they put my girls on. The only differents

between the two is that you have to do collistin 3 times a day compared to

Tobi 2 times a day and it takes only 15 to 20 minutes to do the treatments

compared to tobi doing 30 to 40 minutes. Deb A

why can't you take cipro with milk? That is what my daughter likes to get rid

of the taste of cipro it has to be chocolate milk. Deb A

Milk affects the absorption of the drug. If you read the fine print it says

not to take within 2 hrs of dairy products or calcium supplements. but some

people were saying its the only thing that keeps them from throwing up on

the cipro so if that's the case take it with milk anyway..

If memory serves me correctly, (it's been a long time since Nick was on coly)

you can nebulize coly through an ultrasonic neb, as it will froth less that

way. If you don't hve an ultrasonic machine, then any old neb will work,

and Pari nebulizer bowls seem to do a great job with regular machines.
