Guest guest
Ok.... I have several friends with CF and we do not pass germs back and forth....My hubby also has CF and we and our friends don't share bugs.... The important thing to keep in mind is.....don't share drinks, neb equipment, and wash your hands well... Also avoid each other when you are run down or running a fever. Years ago this never used to be an issue...Unfortunately.....since B. cepacia started its little rampage, contact between Cfers has been cut short...which I think is a crime if you just follow some rules. The CF doc (Yes, he works at an accredited CF Center ) that works for my organization says these things : There is no reason why CFers can not see one another, attend camps and whatnot if... 1. They don't have Cepacia or have cultured it in the past ( Families are told and patients if they have this...if not then the Center should be yelled at ) 2. Have not cultured MRSA in 2 years 3. Do not have pan resistant Bugs ( Parents and patients should know what they culture and their sensativities ) 4. Do not share drinks, equipment ( Common Sense ) 5. Wash hands and cover their mouths when coughing ( Again Common Sense ) The best friends I have and have ever had are those with CF.....its great to k now others who deal with the same issues as yourself...trust me.... Teens and adults with Cf aren't as much of a big deal...also young kids b/c ... 1. Youngsters don't carry as many bugs....if they don't have anything then why not let them meet other Cfers who don't culture ANYTHING? 2. And Adults and Teens usually have pseudo so avoidance so you don't contract it is not a big deal b/c you already have it...barring the patient doesn't have pan- resistnat bugs. These are just my beliefs.... Guest guest
Thanks Becki, I agree. The same thing happened with Cepacia here. I have let meet and go to Disneyland (I went too, I didn't just sent her with them!!) with 3 people wcf w/Cepacia, she just didn't hug or kiss them or get in the same car (ride) with them. They were all adults and responsible and kept a distance from her. I know alot of people would be freaking out about this too, but it just doesn't worry me. love, M Re: Friends with Cf > Ok.... > I have several friends with CF and we do not pass germs back and forth....My > hubby also has CF and we and our friends don't share bugs.... > The important thing to keep in mind is.....don't share drinks, neb equipment, > and wash your hands well... > Also avoid each other when you are run down or running a fever. > Years ago this never used to be an issue...Unfortunately.....since B. cepacia > started its little rampage, contact between Cfers has been cut short...which > I think is a crime if you just follow some rules.
