Anything new about gene therapy

Dear All,

I am poisting after a long time. Sharada is doing OK presently, with

very less cough. I have been reading recently about genetic research

and the promises it offers. Has anybody come across gene therapy

successfully tested for CF patients? Actually this subject has come

up many times in the list mails, but I have hope that this tretement

may provide a permanant cure for CF.

Dear Shrikant,

We are very glad to hear from you again. I am pleased that Sharada is doing

well. Are you still living in the Arabic Emirates?

As for genetherapy I do not think they are already as far as we would wish.

I was told by a doctor who attended a conference about CF in the USA last

fall that one is also looking for medicines that will restore the HCl

transport in the bodies of people with CF. So the research is going two

sides now!

Maybe somone else can give us any details about the status of

genetechnology?
