Guest guest
, sometimes I have pains start even though I haven't eaten in a while, though I also have pain when I eat (I basically have pain 24/7, but it can get worse sometimes even on an empty stomach, particularly at night when I'm fasting. So you are not the only one who has pain on an empty stomach and then gets worse when trying to eat after the pain has started. Just wanted to let you know, you are not alone. I've also been known not to react normally to things as well. -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Guest guest
Kimber, , and the others in the group, I too have pain whenever I eat, no matter whether it is low-fat or no- fat. Just the process of digesting seems to trigger it. I sometimes am forced to go several days (once went a week) without eating anything other than an 8 oz can of Ensure, once or twice a day. Due to this situation and my vomiting from time to time for no particular reason that I can discern, my weight has dropped from a high of 205 lbs back in December to 148 lbs, and I'm still losing. My normal weight used to be around 170-175 lbs. I went from a size 38 inch waist pants to now wearing a size 32 inch! All of this loss occurred over the past few months. Some may say that this is due to my going long periods without any food other than the occasional can of Ensure but this is the exact same regime I was on when my weight ballooned up to over 200 lbs! Also, I too suffer from pain on an empty stomach. The pain had gotten so bad I thought I had developed an ulcer. Turned out not to be the case, fortunately. What a Catch-22 this turned out to be! Pick your poison-pain from eating, which can last hours after finishing my meal or pain from not eating which continues unabated until I do something about it by eating/drinking something of substance. The things this illness causes us to go through never ceases to amaze me... Guest guest
Tell me about it...there was a time last year that every single time my stomach rumbled, it sent waves of pain through my body..I did find that if I ate something, or kept myself full, seemed to help. But then it also was to blame for upping my weight. Then I lost 40lbs in 2 months, but it's going back up a bit, over the past 2 months as I have been mediocre with attacks and can find that I can eat more these days... Guest guest
All of a sudden, yahoo won't let me post a message, when I click on post, it keeps saying my message has been posted and takes me back to the last message I opened to read..also, when I try to come into this website, every single time it says that my password is incorrect but always works on the second time I enter it...they must be having problems..new computer here, nothing else does this ...However, it will let me reply to a message so guess that's what I'll have to do until it works again. I was just speaking to my brother's girlfriend last night..(she's in Australia) and found out that she too is having pancreatitis attacks. Hers is caused by the sphincter of Oddi..and her bile or pancreatic duct. During her previous marriage, she had 7 miscarriages, the first one she was 5 months pregnant when the baby died. They did an autopsy and found high levels of pancreatic toxins in the baby's blood stream, yet no doctor ever offered her a reason for this happening..until now. A new doctor whom she is seeing told her that her pancreatitis attacks, high amylase & lipase levels have more than likely been the cause of all her miscarriages. She does have 2 children by her first marriage, so at least those two made it. I just found it so unbelievable that her medical condition mirrored mine so much. She also is suffering from esophageal ulcers caused by acid reflux, as the valve to the stomach doesn't close properly, as does mine.. Now my brother knows what my husband and our family is suffering through when I have an attack.
Guest guest
Andre, have you tried to take your pain pills about 20-30 minutes before eating so that the meds take affect just as you are eating? It may cut down on some of the pain. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Note: All advice given is personal opinion, not equal to that of a licensed physician or health care professional.
