They were just on there way home from being here. We had our Car wash and our walk this weekend. The carwash was a great success but our walk was cold and wet. Then down side of the carwash was they had another carwash going on down the street that said topless carwash!! So that put a little damper on you carwash but still did really good. Guest guest
Hi guys, Welp, we had quite an exciting night. We spent the night in the cellar. A tornado hit about 1 1/2 miles down the road from us. Took a house and they found the people dead that lived there. There was 3 storms come through, they called them super cells. I believe it. Scared the crap out of me. We were in the cellar and my hubby just had to open the door to look out. It was awful. The air outside looked like it turned green. The trees in the front yard were bowed sideways and the rain was blowing sideways - not down to the ground. Needless to say he got quite a cussing for opening the door. I have never seen anything like this before. It picked up a car and threw it to the other side of the highway, landing on its top. We had hail the size of galf balls, if not bigger. ( I didn't come out of the cellar for awhile) It could have been bigger. ? The boys were scared to death. sat in the corner, praying. ( I know this a non religious group, I hope I don't offend) I felt so sorry for him. He got so upset, he kept saying he was going to pass out. You know how they sweat anyway. He broke out in a sweat that covered his whole body. It was running down his head. Anyway, I don't think this has anything to do with cf, really. Other than the fact that this cf family was scared to death. We're pretty sure that we saw a funnel drop to the west of us. After that we hit the cellar and I don't know what happened. The funny part was that my other son, w/ cf, was begging me to run into the house and bring out the roast I had cooked, he was starving. When it was finally over, they came in and ate. They put roast and potatoes in baggies so they could take it with them if we had to go out again. I couldn't help but get tickled. I tell ya, talk about putting some things in perspective. Your number could be up at anytime. Those poor people down the road. I think they are talking about 25 people dead now from it around here and in Springfield. Lots of injuries. We were just really lucky. I guess to make it cf related I can ask this - While we were sitting out in the cellar, the air was really musty smelling. You know- like wet and old smelling. I wonder if this would effect the boys lungs? We were out there for an hour maye a little longer. Well, enough rambling for now. It is gonna take me a few days to get myself together again. Guest guest
Aah, lovely tornadoes. I have been through a few--nothing like your experience though. The cellars usually are pretty musty and air doesn't circulate well in them but there isn't much you can do. I doubt that a few hours exposure will do any damage but I'd check with the CF center to see if they suggest that he wears a mask in someplace like a cellar. Guest guest
I am glad the walk was a good one & that you did get it done in time before the really bad weather. Oh my gosh, the one you had a few years ago would have scared me to death .....Glad all were o.k. just a window -not a person. I know it wasn't easy , but you know what I mean... Things can be fixed or replaced. BUT people-NOOOOOOO wayyyyyyy:) Yeah, I think the topless was a big seller .......Was it for real?? They couldn't do that here. Their little or big booties would have been in jail:) Thanks for all you were doing though LOVE & HUGS, grandmomBEV Re: Tornado, ?? about air In a message dated 5/5/2003 12:17:48 PM Central Daylight Time, mntecrlo@... writes: > Vondie > I know how you feel we had one her in 1998 my youngest was really little she was taking a nap at the time and I finally decided to go to the basement and as I was heading down the stairs are bedroom door slammed shut (which is right next to my daughters room) It didn't dawn on me at the time that the windows in that room were not open until it was all over and realized a tree branch had flown through our window and destroyed our room.
