I have had a rash on my arms for over 3 years my PCP said it was some kind of psoriasis, then this year I developed a rash all over me and finally got to the dermatologist in August, he said you have dry skin and take to many baths or showers I laughed in his face and said I was lucky if I get a shower every 7-10 days and yes that was true. He looked stumped I wanted him to do the blood work for the congential pancreatitis, did he NO, he gave me this greasy triamcinolone ointment that is gross, it did not help, while I was in the hospital having my intrathecal cath put in I had a complication and had to recieve IV steroids what do you know my rash went almost away. I still have areas and have learned that I probably always will. Lupus is an autoimmune disorder that effects all connective tissue of the body I.E. heart, lung, kidney, it can manifest it self thru a rash on the face that is shaped like a butterfly(yes wings and all) testing usually involves blood work such as an ANA( antinuclear antibody) SedRate and others that are usually elevated when there is inflammation in the body. The thing with Lupus is there is NO cure and it most generally is a fatal disease, treatment is steroids and that's about it. Hope this answers some of your questions. I don't know why we are prone to skin disorders I think it has to do with malabsorbtion and inability to absorb all the nutrients from our food and inability to process fat properly. Atwell LPN , my daughter who doesn't have cp has high ANA. She has been loosing her hair and has bumps on her head the size of bb's. Her head itches and the dermatologist prescribed a steroid for her to use topically on her head. The doctor said that her ana is very hi but she doesn't have Lupus. Can you explain why she doesn't have Lupus if her ANA is so high and her hair is falling out since the doctor says she doesn't have lupus. One doctor called her at work and told her she has lupus and another doctor said that she doesn't have it. The conflicting statements have us confused.
