Guest guest
, My doc puts Paige on Xopenex by nebulizer, and it helps tremendously in those situations. Perhaps you can ask your doctor about that? I have been there a few times....you are in my prayers tonight..hang in there. Mom to KM 8 wocf, and Paige 3 wcf, and author of " Juggling Cystic Fibrosis. A Health Journal " coughing so hard he throws up--help! My almost 2 year old has a nasty post nasal drip that makes him cough so hard that he has vomited 4 times in 2 days. He has hardly slept at all and is so tired. His nose isn't runny and his lungs still sound ok--it is just gunk in the back of his throat. His lungs have always been totally clear. He is on guafenisin, antihistimine, cough suppressant (yes, I know we shouldn't be on it) and and decongestant. We are trying to give him plenty of fluids, tilt his bed, and are using an ultrasonic humidifier which has been disenfected with ozonated water. Any other advice? I just hate seeing him cough like this. (mom to Ashton wcf, 11 weeks premature, exclusively g-tube fed)

Guest guest
, Talk to his doc about getting a small bottle of codiene cough syrup, then use only in desparate situations like this. The doc may be reluctant to give it to you, but explain how you have that this cough isn't doing any good, just making him loose sleep (not to mention you're all losing sleep) It MAY not even work, but usually will, we have done this before but really rarely. good luck, M coughing so hard he throws up--help! > My almost 2 year old has a nasty post nasal drip that makes him cough > so hard that he has vomited 4 times in 2 days.
