ka,

I read with interest your comments to Christie about the bone density

test and quickly see that my thoughts that it might not be a priority

for someone so young were incorrect. I am astonished that osteopenia

could affect someone as young as you are! I was just diagnosed with

osteopenia a few months ago. My T score was also that of a 75 year

old, with possiblity of fracture, too. Yet I am 51, so this isn't as

startling for me as it would be for someone your age.

What type of treatment was recommended for you to strengthen your

bones? I was told to attach weights to my ankles and walk frequently

while wearing the weights, and was also told to take additional

calcium and Vitamin D. If you read my earlier post you'll see that

my gastro immediately ordered me to stop taking the additional

calcium because of my pseudocysts and calification of my pancreas.

If any kind of different or alternative treatment was suggested for

you, I would be very curious to hear about it, because I feel I

should be doing more than just walking with weights if there is

anything else that would help ward off full osteoporosis.

Thanks so much for your telling us about this.

With hope and prayers,

Heidi

I am 30 years old and have had CP since 95. I have moderately severe

CP with no treatment or testing left to try...I just want you to know

I was found to have osteopenia(almost osteoporosis)at age 26. > ka
