Guest guest
Hi All: I am new to this group and I have a couple of questions: 1) How do you determine if you have Acute vs. Chronic Pancreatitis. My Doctors have told me I have Acute as I have had 3 really bad attacks in the last 6 years. My doctors also tell me that I should not have a problem with this if I obstain from Alcohol. Not being a big drinker, this was easy for me. However, I have had another attack while being abstenant for 5 months. I am now on a low-fat diet... 2) I have a whole bunch of fears going through my mind and the biggest in Pancreatic Cancer. I have read that the chances of getting Pancreatic Cancer are a lot higher once one has had pancreatitis. My doctors have told me not to worry about this. I don't trust a lof of what is published on the internet. What can I do proactively now to test for this. I have an ERCP, CAT SCAN and UltraSound showing no lesions etc...My blood is good and I can eat food without much pain. 3) Usually when I have had pancreatic pain, it has been in the upper abdomen. Lately I am getting mild pain in the lower abdomen(stomach). Has anyone else had pain in the lower abdomen. Is this because the enzymes are not digesting my foods when they get to my stomach or could this be totally unrelated? Thanks, Wes
