Guest guest
Gee Heidi, What can I say!?! I am so sorry that you are spending your birthday and your vacation in the hospital. Both things happened to me three years ago. My very first surgery ever, was on my birthday - I remember crying so hard that night because the guy next door had a party going on - on MY BIRTHDAY HOW DARE HE!!!! I hit my PCA pump so much to knock out his noise that I overdosed myself into respiratory arrest. Woke up to almost a full blown code! Then my second surgery (as a result of the bumbling first surgeon) was 5 weeks later when we were suppose to go out west on our annual rock hunting vacation! That was my first experience with acute pancreatitis, TPN and all that. But the important thing is that you made it home ok, that you are getting care now and to work on feeling better soon so you can get back to that vacation really soon. I hope it all goes well with you: Heal Quickly! Laurie (it was probably too mosquito-y there anyways, or too hot, or too crowded, or the food wasn't that good........) Guest guest
Heidi, First of all Happy Birthday. I know it doesn't seem like one at the moment but I am happy for you and for all of us that you made it another year and have more to look forward to. I'm trying not to sound obnoxious in light of your attack. I genuinely mean, happy birthday. You are so brave it blows my mind! I don't even have a pancreas now and I am too scared to leave the country. In fact, next week will be my first out of state trip! I cannot imagine the pain you faced while figuring out what to do, how to get a flight, fly, and finally get to GA. You are amazing! I hope the Savannah hospital does well by you and gives you the best care. Sounds like they are willing to be aggressive. I have gone long periods of time NPO, but no hospital has been concerned enough about my nutrition to give me TPN. I often worried about getting pseudocysts and looking never had one, I know of. I am sorry you have had to deal with this lengthy history of dealing with them. As your time and energy permit keep us informed. I am thinking postive strong healthy thoughts for you. I pray you make a speedy recovery. Blessings, Bert
Guest guest
Oh, my Heidi I am so sorry about what happened to you. You certainly don't deserve this. How frightening for you to have this happen in Belize; so far from home without good medical care. I'm just so glad you made it safely to a US hospital. A belated Happy Birthday to you. Here's to a healthier year for you. Please take good care of yourself and feel better soon. JIll My Vacation in the Hospital Here I am again....in the hospital! My husband and I had planned a week's getaway for my birthday. He always takes a week's vacation for my birthday, and we schedule a special trip....just something fun and private for the two of us. This year we decided to go to Belize, to soak up the sun, scuba, fish and visit the Mayan Ruins.
