Guest guest
My son, 11, has used the Flutter and Vest (and we still do CPT), but what he likes the best is the Acappella. In our experience it is MUCH easier to use than the Flutter. For one thing, you don't have to be in a certain position with the Acappella like you do with the Flutter. The Acappella is a lot like the Flutter but uses PEP as well. Here is a web site http://www.dhd.com/html/catalog/acapella.html http://www.dhd.com/html/techinfo/ap.pdf Just my $.02. And I didn't know you had to be in a certain position when using the flutter. We have one but really have never used it. My daughter will play with it once in a while but I didn't know how to use it so we never have. It's probably a good thing because we don't know how to use it. Guest guest
> > Acappella > > What is this? http://www.dhd.com/html/catalog/acapella.html Bronchial Hygiene Therapy: acapella® Vibratory Positive Expiratory Pressure System acapella® combines the benefits of both PEP therapy and airway vibrations to mobilize pulmonary secretions and can be used in virtually any spatial orientation. Patients are free to sit, stand or recline. It improves clearance of secretions, is easier to tolerate than CPT, takes less than half the time of conventional CPT sessions* and facilitates opening or airways in patients with lung diseases with secretory problems (COPD, asthma, Cystic Fibrosis). Color-coded units (green for high-flow, blue for low) help customize treatment based on clinical needs. You can adjust acapella's frequency and flow resistance simply by turning an adjustment dial. Guest guest
The info I was given sez between 4 and 6 so he should be old enough. Flutter My son is 6 and we were told he couldn't get the flutter until he is 9!? from PA
Guest guest
Why? Levi has had his for about two years now and he's only five. It took a long time for him to learn to use it right (and still he does better if I hold his cheeks to remind him to keep them tight while he blows in it,) but every bit of chest clearance is helpful. I wouldn't rely on the Flutter alone for airway clearance for him at this age, but it does help him cough stuff out and it's way more portable than the vest. What clinic do you go to? ~ > My son is 6 and we were told he couldn't get the flutter until he is 9!? > from PA
Guest guest
Our ERIN still keeps hers with her. She is away at college(winter time) & does use her vest BUT...If at a game or traveling , she can do wherever ..She liked it . They used it that one time in hospital too after her surgery ..Didn't want vest at that time. She really was hurting...So it did keep mucus moving........I have seen really wee ones use it .Now, of course , they pretended it was a pipe first--hehe. BUT , they loved it . Now, when made to bucket down & do it right, they did it , but as she said, they have to be reminded -position-position:):) good luck------- LOVE & HUGS, GRANDMOMBEV Re: Flutter Why?
