Guest guest
Hi all Well for the last 2 months Liam has not grown taller at all, he is still the same. He is putting on weight slowly but no the height. We have a CF clinic next tuesday and I want some blood tests what minerals/vitamins/fatty acids should I request for inquiry. Can fatty acid defiency cause stunted growth?? Is it true that there is too much Calcium in PWCF so lack of Calcim wouldnt be the cause?? Is it true that there is too much Iron so lack of Iron wouldnt be the cause?? Thanks mum to Liam 9 months old
Guest guest
I have never heard that CFer's have too much calcium or iron. As a matter of fact, I was told by a CF nutritionist to add powdered milk to 's whole milk to increase her calcium (and calorie) intake. stunted growth question Hi all Well for the last 2 months Liam has not grown taller at all, he is still the same. Guest guest
My son Nick saw the endocrinologist last month. He did several blood tests, plus bone density test, DEXA, glucid tolerance test, and family height history. His height prediction came out far below our family history, and all blood work came back fine, so the doc is starting Nick on HGH, or growth hormone, in order for him to reach his maximum stature. Nick is 14 yrs. old. Perhaps you could ask your CF docs to send you to an endocrinologist, and inquire about HGH. Amber, Nick's mom

I am glad they are willing to get a referral for it. It can make a big difference
Guest guest
Is it possible that Liam was measured wrong two months ago? Do you know what line he has been following on his growth chart? I think that I'd look at the growth chart and see where he fits. If there is a big deviation then the clinic may make some changes. Pat father of Camerons (2.5 yo wcf) and Claire 6 mo.
