Guest guest
Well here we go AGAIN!!!!!!! gets to go to the hospital on Thursday for another sinus surgery. His fifth in his short three years of life. For those of you that are new and not familiar with his history here goes.................. At six months of age got what we thought was pink eye. He had been acting pretty normal all day and night. My husband got up with him at four in the morning and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. At six he woke up crying and his left eye was swollen shut. We went to th dr and they gave him antibiotics. We went through the night with a fever of over 104. The next day they gave him a shot of antibiotics and we did a ct scan. He was diagnosed as having periorbital cellulitus. This is whre the infection from his sinuses had eaten through the bone into the eye socket and caused a cyst. They decided to transfer us to Denver Childrens to the cf team and a team of other drs. Before we left he got another shot to get us down there which is a two hour drive. At ten o'clock that night three teams of drs took him into the operating room. When he went into surgery his fever was 104.5. A year later he was developing the same condition and we rushed down to Denver again. this time we averted disaster. Then last year starting in January we began the process of cleaning his sinuses. On February 14 he had his third surgery in that series. So then at that time we were up to four. His sinuses just keep filling up as fast as they get cleaned out. We have prolonged this last one until the CF drs finally said they would reccomend it. So here we go. mom to 3wcf and allergies, and Brenna 7wocf and getting tested for allergies _________________________________________________________________ Tired of spam? Guest guest
> Well here we go AGAIN!!!!!!! gets to go to the hospital on Thursday > for another sinus surgery. His fifth in his short three years of life. It does seem like some children are more prone to nasal problems than others doesn't it. Have you had genetic testing and what is his mutation if I may ask? My son has had two surgeries within the year for nasal polyps and is being worked up for CF. Initial testing found one mutation and we are waiting results form the Amber lab to see if they found another. Please feel free to write privately and vent. I would love to talk to another mom whose chils has had nasal surgeries. Does your hospital use nasal slings? I found they worked so much better than plain gauze and tape after surgery. jan
