Hi Judy and and others,

Could someone explain what a sphincteroplasty is exactly? Is it

reconstruction of the sphincter? I am 25 yrs old and have had chronic

pancreatitis for

several years. I was talking to a friend of mine tonight who is also my age who

has very bad chronic pancreatitis from pancreas divisum. Her doctor is

recommending a doctor in Boston or at s Hopkins to perform a

sphinctoeroplasty.

She's not sure who the doctors are who do it in those cities. The only doctor

that I have heard of in Boston who is really good is Dr Carr-Locke. Has anyone

seen him before? For those of you who have had sphincteroplasties before, who

would you recommend to do them in the Pittsburgh area? She has already seen one

very good doctor there, Dr Slivka, who says she needs someone even better than

him b/c her case is so complicated.

Thanks so much!

Malisa :)
