It is not determined by age but by chest size.

Rosemary in NY with 3 children (12, 10 and 6)

with CF. I have a dog named TOBI and

coined the phrase " BREATHE DAMMIT "

Mike,

Our baby is only seven months old, but someone on the Cystic-L list

told us that their daughter started using the vest at 14 months.

Patti is 2 1/2 and we just finished her 30 day trial for the vest. It took a

couple of weeks, but she finally likes it better than the percussor we were

using before. We are hoping that she gets to keep it.

At what age do you normally see a child get a vest.

We were told around 3 years of age, but it appears that children younger than

Hi Mike,

Rosemary is right...we look for a chest circumference of 21 inches. This

usually correlates with a 2 year old. We have applied the Vest successfully

to children with a chest circumference of 18 inches. It is up to your

doctor and your healthcare team to see if your child is ready for the Vest.

Let me know if I can help.

Randy

Bev is right, Dawn. If Patti is using it, she will keep it regardless of

what the insurance company says. Remember, the only way our Vest leaves

your home is if you ask us to come and get it.

That's a relief. You should see what my day is like. I home school my other

three as the school system here wouln't take the time to properly deal with

their learning disabilities. Their view and I quote... " Well, they'll just get

by as they can. Somebody has to grow up to be hamburger flippers. " Any way,

the vest helps Patti get cpt done by herself so that I can do the 1001 other

things that need to be done around here. :-)
