>>I had my apt with the pancreas specialist at Cedars Sinai

Hospital today. His name is Dr. Simon Lo. I LOVED HIM!!!!!!! He

spent 1 1/2 hours with me and my husband today.

After reviewing my records and looking at my films he showed us

on my ERCP films and on my CT films (which where supposed

to be normal) that I have pancreas divisum, also these so

called " normal " films showed inflammation of the pancreas.

Needless to say I am happy to know why I am sick but I am also

scared. I am so upset that the people that are supposed to

know what they are looking at could not see the main pancreatic

duct is just hanging there and is not attached to anything.

Oh by the way.... he said that I am taking my enzymes wrong. I

was told by the pharmacy to take them 20-30 mins before I eat.

He said they are going to waste that way. I am supposed to take

them at the same time as that first bite of food.

Dear ,

The important part of this is that you loved the new doctor and felt

confident and comfortable with the time he spent with you and

your husband. It is very interesting that his interpretation of your

records and films differed so greatly from who you had been

seeing previously. It sounds as though you reviewed these films

with him, and he was able to explain and show you the parts of

the films that showed pancreas divisum and inflamation. Did

the earlier doctors go over these films with you personally in

such detail?

It's amazing what a difference there can be in interpretation from

one doctor to another. One doctor can " tell " you something,

while another doctor will sit you down and " show " you the

irregularities and abnormalties on the films for you to see with

your own eyes. This is what happened to me, too, with the first

GI I had that I fired, and now the new GI who has been treating

me these last 8 months, whom I trust 100%. The first one told

me things, and I had to take his word for it. He never met my

husband, or asked to. The second one asked for my CT-scan

and ultrasound films, which I had, but I had never looked at with

my first doctor. The second doctor sat me down and reviewed

the films with me, and showed me all the good parts and the

bad. He asked to meet with my husband, and thoroughly

reviewed my complete history and status with him.

Doesn't it make you feel better that this doctor did this and

showed you what was going on, and had an explanation for it?

He sounds great to me, and he sounds like someone who is

really interested in your well being.

I can't speculate on what's ahead, but I think you can trust this

doctor to be straightforward and honest in his future evaluations

of your care. He sounds like he is very thorough and attentive,

and that's what you need.

As far as his advice about your enzymes, his advice is what I

have been told, and also what I have read about with my

enzymes. Mine are to be taken immediately before I eat, and if I

eat a large, heavy, prolonged meal, (like a big holiday dinner), I

can take an additional one or two midway through the meal. If

you take them too much in advance of the meal, they will already

have begun the digestion process before the food even gets to

your small intestine.

Hopefully someone else will have more suggestions and

comments. You should be so pleased to have finally found a

professional who appears to be so thorough and interested in

you!

With hope and prayers,

Heidi,

The funny thing is that my previous GI Dr. (whom I still think is a wonderful

person) never saw the films. He relied on the radioligist reports to tell him

the results. I have learned my lesson now and will make that any furture films

are reviewed by the DR that knows what to look for. I wish I had the name and

phone number of the lady I met in the SS office that gave me Dr. Lo's card. She

was my angel sent from heaven to point me in the right direction with this dr.

If she is out there and is reading this message I would love to see and speak

with her again. I told her about this group and she said she would look into

it. She lives near me and I know she is struggling with SSDI and no money and

has small children. If she is out there and reading this please, please call me

at (805)579-8538 or e-mail at chamberslm@.... I would like to see if

there is anything I can do to help her, maybe even with some temp. housing

because I know this was an issue for her. Well I geuss God works in his own way

and I know she crossed my path to help me, I wish I could help her back in

return.
