Guest guest
Just wanted to sympathize with those who have HMO's and are having problems. I know it is very frustrating when you need to see a doctor for something and have to wait for a referral from the insurance. And when your primary care physician has to go thru a bunch of trial and error before the insurance allows him to give you a referral to a specialist. The insurance coverage for retired military and their families is really bad. It is sad how little the military thinks of their retired veterans families. The Veterans can go to the local veterans hospital but their families are stuck with whatever their primary care doctor can treat. They don't allow many referrals to specialists---i.e.--CF doctors, heart specialists, pulmonologist, etc. Documentation of everything that happens and referral rejections, etc taken to your local congressman or woman is sometimes necessary to persuade the insurance company to allow a referral. Good luck to all of you on HMO's!!! Love, Aunt B
