Guest guest
Hi, I just have generalized aches and pains in the vicinity of the incision which as you can imagine is quite long (from flank to flank). This pain is NOTHING like pancreatitis. It is very mild except for some reason it can flare up. But I have been told that this kind of generalized pain is part and parcel of a large surgery - - not every gets it but many do. It should fade and it has faded a lot. I believe in cases where there has been significant nerve damage done as a result of long term chronic pancreatitis there is a greater chance that pain will remain even following a pancreatectomy. It seems to me that most people that are good candidates for pancreatectomy have a great relief or total relief of pain following surgery. I know I have no pancreas pain. Just a mostly nagging pain like I said is believed to be incisional in nature. I do not require daily doses of pain meds and have been mostly off any kind of pain medicine for about 6 weeks now. Hope that helps, Bert
